- March 22, 2008: Get Down and Dirty with the Roswell Historical Society. Archaeology is coming to Hembree Farm. If you want to volunteer, wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and bring water and work gloves. You may also want to bring a lunch. We will need trowels and shovels (both round and flat edge). Children 7 and older are welcome, but must be accompanied by a responsible adult (one per child, please). RHS President, Connie Huddleston, a registered professional archaeologist, will be in charge of the excavations. Please email her with any questions at itpllc@bellsouth.net. Excavations will continue every Saturday at 10:00 am until further notice, weather permitting.
Hembree Farm is located on Hembree Road next to the Hembree Springs Elementary School. It is about half a mile from the intersection of Alpharetta Highway and Hembree Road.

We sponsor an annual Christmas tour of homes. Last years tour featured two contemporary homes located on Stroup Road. The location for this years tour will be announced later in the year.

We offer out-of-town tours to other historic communities. Tours are planned once or twice a year and are open to members, prospective members, and guests.

We offer an "Evening at the Theatre" once each year. Tickets are offered for a preview performance of a production of the Georgia Ensemble Theatre. The Society hosts a pre-performance reception for attendees who purchase tickets through the Society.

We offer special programs, such as lecture series on historical topics or presentations by distinguished speakers. A recent lecture series was presented by our Archivist on the subject of American home interiors, architecture, and decorative arts from 1700 - 1900.

We mount periodic exhibits with historical themes. Exhibits feature materials held in our Archives, including photographs, artifacts, textiles, vintage clothing, and documents or objects relating to Roswell history.
