The Research Library and Archives is a repository for research materials, historical records and collections of the Roswell Historical Society and the City of Roswell. It is housed in the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, a state-of-the-art facility that is part of the Roswell Municipal Complex. The Research Library and Archives is administered by the Society’s Archivist and staffed by trained volunteers who are knowledgeable about the area’s history.
We are seeking volunteers to staff our Research Library and Archives. Volunteers assist patrons with research and organize and catalog materials. Orientation and training provided. Computer skills not necessary, but welcome.

The reading room contains over 1000 volumes on the history of Roswell, the state of Georgia and its counties, as well as local church, census and cemetery records. There are collections pertaining to two U.S. Presidents with ties to Roswell (Theodore Roosevelt and Jimmy Carter), the early textile mills, the Civil War, the Cherokee Indians, and the area’s Black heritage.
Archival holdings include manuscript collections, maps, photographs, drawings, personal and family papers, artifacts, audio/visual tapes and textiles. There is a substantial collection of newspapers that served the Roswell community during the 19th and 20th centuries. Some are available on microfilm.
